Date and Day- 8 September 2019, Sunday.
Match 2 – Australia Women v/s West Indies Women.
Time-7:00 PM IST.
Venue – North Sound (Antigua)
West Indies women’s team were taken to cleaners by Meg Lanning and Alyssa Healy in the 1st ODI of the 3 match series. Meg Lanning scored 121 runs while Alyssa Healy Scored 122 runs, riding on the back of these two centuries Australia posted a mammoth total of 308 runs. While chasing down the target West Indies women were never in the game losing 4 wickets within the first 8 overs.
Ellyse Perry was the wrecker in chief with the bowl for the Australians. Stafanie Taylor was the only player who stood out for the West Indies in this dull chase coming in at number three she carried her bat through with an unbeaten 70. West Indies were bowled out for 130 runs.
The second match of the three-match series is set to be played at North Sound and would likely be game that Australia would fancy winning against the inexperienced West Indies side. West Indies are under a bit of a pump after losing the first game. The withdrawal of Hayley Matthews is also a loss for the team, but it is expected from the team to at least show some fight to the Aussie team.
Squad News
Hayley Matthews has been withdrawn from the squad for breaching the Cricket West Indies code of conduct during an incident in Antigua on Wednesday. Sheneta Grimmond has been named her replacement.
