2) Nadia Gruny – Gruny who was good with the bat in the previous match, continued to bat well as she scored 33 runs which helped the USA to chase the target with ease.
Gruny continued to shine with the bat as the USA defeated Namibia by 6 wickets at Arbroath on Saturday.
Winning the toss, the USA opted to bowl on a decent batting surface. Namibia did not have a great of the starts as the opener Van Der Merwe was run out for 0 and the following batter Green too departed early for just 2 runs. Skipper Khan tried to build the innings but she got out after reaching the score of 16, she was clean bowled by Akshatha Rao. Later, it was the inning from Diergaardt of 33 runs helped Namibia to reach a score of 84 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in 20 overs. With the ball, Samantha and Akshatha troubled opposition, which restricted Namibia under 90 runs.
Chasing the below-par target of 88, even the USA did not have a great start as Rendler got dismissed for just 4 runs. The other opener Gruny, who has been in great form in the series continued as she scored another Match winning inning of 33, she was dismissed later by Foerster. In the end, Shebani Bhaskar played a cameo of 15 which helped the USA team to chase the target in 19 overs.
For both the teams, it must be a great learning experience playing a major tournament like this, which will help them a lot in future tournaments.
