Summary:

An experienced Ireland team defeated Namibia team by 7 wickets in their first match of the tournament at Arbroath on Saturday 

After the first match got abandoned due to rain and the next two were shortened, finally, the last match was a complete 20 over the contest. Ireland skipper on winning the toss decided to bowl knowing the chances of rain later in the day.

Batting first in very tough conditions, Namibia ended their innings at 83 for 9 in 20 overs. The excellent spell of Richardson and other bowlers helped Ireland to restrict them to a below-par score of 83. Pentro Enright was the top scorer for Namibia with 20 runs.

Chasing the target of 84, Ireland lost one of the openers early. Later the wicket-keeping batter Mary Waldron along with Kim Garth and Gaby Lewis played a decent cameo which made Ireland chase the target in 15th over of the inning.

Ireland is one of the favorites of the tournament started off well with a bang. On the other side, Namibia will look to make a good comeback in their next game on 1st September.

The 35-year-old Mary Waldron was awarded as the player of the match.

Brief Score: Ireland 84 for 3 (14.3 overs ) defeated Namibia 83 for 9 ( 20 overs ) by 7 wickets.
