Top Performers :
1) Kathryn Bryce – The Skipper of Scotland who is coming back after a good season of Kia Super League, impressed everyone with an all-round performance which helped Scotland to the first win of the tournament. She scored 29 with the bat and picked up 2 wickets with the ball.
2) Claudine Beckford: The off-spinner from Jamaica picked up 3 wickets for the USA. Sadly, it did not help her team win the match and also she was expensive by giving away 26 runs in 2 overs.
An all-round performance from Bryce helped the home team Scotland win over the USA by 30 runs at Dundee on Saturday.
After the first match got abandoned due to rain, Thankfully it stopped raining later, which helped for at least a 7 over-game for the second match on the same ground. Winning the toss, Scotland Skipper Bryce elected to bat.
It was a surprise move from her, usually, captain’s like to chase in a rain-shortened game.
Opening the innings for Scotland, Sarah and Kathryn Bryce had a decent partnership of 29, the former got out after scoring 12 and the latter ended up as the highest run-getter for the team with 29 runs. Kathryn Bryce looked in good touch as she returned back after playing for Loughborough Lightning in Kia Super League. Scotland set a target of 61 runs in 7 overs.
Chasing the target of 61, USA did not have a great start, they lost their openers cheaply in first two overs of the inning, except the Skipper Sindhu, none of the players reached double figures, they ended the innings at 30 for 5 in 7 overs, losing the game by 30 runs. Scotland skipper, Kathryn who was great with the bat, impressed with the bowling too, she picked up 2 wickets in 2 overs with an economy of just 3, which helped Scotland to win over the USA by 30 runs.
Kathryn Bryce was awarded as the player of the match for her All-round performance.
Scotland will be playing against PNG and The USA will be playing against the best team of the tournament Bangladesh tomorrow, hope the rain God’s will stay away.
