Bangladesh Women registered a three-wicket victory over Thailand women to end their preparations for the upcoming Women’s T20 World Cup qualifiers on a high note.
After winning the toss and electing to bat first, the Thailand women’s cricket team could only manage to reach 87 for five in their allotted 20 overs. Chasing a small total, the tigresses reached the target of 88 runs in 18.2 overs with three wickets remaining.
Nahida Akter was the best bowler for Bangladeshi team, returning with figures 2 for 13. Her team-mate Nigar Sultana played a 37-ball 39 runs innings to end the match in her team’s favour.
Bangladesh Women (who are well known for creating upsets in the big tournaments) are placed in Group A alongside hosts Scotland Women, USA Women and PNG Women. Group A teams with four other teams of Group B will compete for top two spots in the qualifiers to make their way to the 2020 Women’s T20 Wolrd Cup to be played in Australia next year.
