The ECB announced its 15 member squad who will represent England Women’s Cricket Team at the T20 World Cup in Australia starting 21st Feb 2020.
Having played the final of the World T20 in 2018 in the West Indies, England will surely look to go a step further to claim the title which once belonged to them in 2009. Heather Knight has been named captain of this side and will lead the 15 member squad as they look to avenge their last time’s campaign and set their records straight.
Some cricketers in this English set up are dangerous especially in this format of the game and here are 5 such players who might create a huge impact in the upcoming tournament.
#1. Heather Knight
Heather has played 66 T20I’s and scored 770 runs and is an experienced campaigner to lead this English side at the World Cup. She is a top-class batter and will be in the limelight throughout the tournament.
#2. Amy Jones
Amy Jones after the retirement of Sarah Taylor has been the regular wicketkeeper for England and is a very solid batter upfront and has played some fantastic innings for England leading up to this big tournament. In 41 games she has 599 runs which by no means a small feat and will look to continue her good form in the world cup as well.
#3. Natalie Sciver
Nat Sciver the all-rounder has always been a game-changer for this English side in white-ball cricket. She can hit those big shots at the death and pick up crucial wickets whenever handed the responsibility. In 67 games Sciver has scored 1133 runs and picked up 51 wickets in the format which makes her a dangerous T20 player.
#4. Danielle Wyatt
Danni Wyatt has played 101 games and has 1495 runs in this format. Opening the batting she provides a solid start to this lineup and is one of the topmost batters in the world with 2 centuries to her name in this format as well. Danni is a prolific batter and is a treat to watch every time she steps in to bat on a cricketing field.
#5. Katherine Brunt
Katherine Brunt is one of the most experienced players in this lineup and having played 74 games has picked up 76 wickets which makes her a certainty in this team. She is very good up-front with the new ball and can tonk the ball in the death overs with the bat as well which makes her lethal for the opposition.
This English squad looks solid on paper and it will be really interesting to see how they approach their campaign. England Women play their first game against South Africa Women on the 23rd of March 2020 at the WACA, Perth.
