Asked to bat first, Warwickshire Women made a positive start despite losing Katie George in the powerplay. Opening alongside Abigail Freeborn, George looked in excellent touch during her 34 off 23 balls, striking five boundaries as the pair stitched together a solid 51-run opening partnership. George was eventually bowled by Alice Monaghan in the seventh over with the score reading 51/1 in 6.3 overs. Freeborn continued to anchor the innings and found another reliable partner in captain Natasha Wraith. The duo added an important 66-run stand for the second wicket, rotating the strike well while punishing loose deliveries. Wraith played an entertaining innings of 42 from 30 balls, smashing four fours and two sixes, before she was caught by Ryana MacDonald-Gay off Alice Monaghan at 117/2 in 13.6 overs.

Freeborn carried on after reaching a well-crafted half-century, scoring 50 from 43 deliveries with seven boundaries, but her impressive innings came to an unusual end when she retired out at 157/3 in 17.3 overs. That brought the hard-hitting Charis Pavely to the forefront, and she provided the perfect late flourish. Pavely blasted an unbeaten 45 off just 18 balls, hammering four fours and three sixes at a stunning strike rate of 250.00. Although Em Arlott was run out for 3 and Mary Taylor was dismissed for a duck by Kalea Moore in the final over, Pavely ensured Warwickshire finished strongly. Alongside Georgia Redmayne, who remained unbeaten on 1, she helped the visitors reach 180/5 in their 20 overs, giving Surrey a challenging target of 181.

Surrey’s bowlers had to work hard against an aggressive batting lineup. Alice Monaghan was the most successful bowler, claiming 2 wickets for 33 runs in her three overs, dismissing both Katie George and Natasha Wraith at crucial stages. Kalea Moore produced an economical spell of 1/29 from four overs, removing Mary Taylor. Ryana MacDonald-Gay, Bethan Miles bowled steadily for 0/34, Laura Harris conceded just 15 runs in two overs, and Danielle Gregory finished with figures of 0/27 from three overs, collectively restricting Warwickshire from pushing beyond the 180-run mark.

Chasing 181, Surrey Women began aggressively through captain Bryony Smith and Kira Chathli. The pair added 47 runs for the opening wicket before Chathli was involved in a run-out after scoring 9 from 12 balls. Smith continued her attacking approach and soon found ideal support from Laura Harris. Together, they produced the defining partnership of the contest, putting on a magnificent 78-run stand for the second wicket that completely swung the chase in Surrey’s favour. Smith played a captain’s knock of 54 from only 28 balls, striking seven fours and two sixes, before she was caught by Mary Taylor off Charis Pavely at 125/2 in 9.1 overs.

With the required run rate firmly under control, Harris took charge. Displaying exceptional power-hitting, she dismantled the Warwickshire attack with a sensational 81 off just 32 deliveries, smashing nine fours and six sixes at an astonishing strike rate of 253.12. Harris first shared a brisk 49-run partnership with Jemima Spence, who contributed 20 from 18 balls before falling to Millie Taylor at 179/4 in 14.5 overs. The chase was then calmly completed by Phoebe Franklin, who remained unbeaten on 1, and Alice Monaghan, who struck the winning boundary during her unbeaten 4 from one ball, as Surrey finished on 183/4 in just 15 overs, sealing victory with 30 balls remaining. Harris’ match-winning innings rightly earned her the Player of the Match award.
