Yorkshire Women began cautiously after being put into bat, but their experienced opening pair ensured the innings had early stability. Captain Lauren Winfield-Hill looked fluent during her 23 off 16 balls, striking five boundaries and putting immediate pressure on the Surrey attack. Alongside her, Erin Thomas anchored the innings beautifully with a confident 42 off 29 deliveries, an innings decorated with eight crisp boundaries. The pair added 60 runs for the opening wicket in just 5.6 overs, giving Yorkshire the kind of platform they desired in the powerplay.

However, Surrey Women responded strongly once the breakthrough arrived. Ryana MacDonald-Gay removed Winfield-Hill, and the wickets began to tumble regularly after that. Jess Jonassen failed to convert her start and departed for 2, while Sterre Kalis tried to rebuild with a patient 18 from 24 balls. Yorkshire slipped from 60/1 to 84/4 as Surrey’s bowlers tightened their grip through disciplined middle-over bowling.

Kalea Moore delivered one of the standout bowling spells for Surrey Women, finishing with impressive figures of 3/21 in her four overs. Her ability to strike at crucial moments disrupted Yorkshire’s momentum significantly. Alice Davidson-Richards also played an important role with the ball, claiming 2/23 in her four-over spell, while Danielle Gregory chipped in with 1/21. Ryana MacDonald-Gay contributed effectively with 3/29, removing key batters including Winfield-Hill and Olivia Thomas to ensure Yorkshire never completely accelerated in the death overs.

Despite the middle-order collapse, Yorkshire found some resistance lower down the order. Rachel Slater contributed a useful 8 off 8 balls, while Ria Fackrell added a brisk 10 from 10 deliveries. Beth Langston’s 6 and Maddie Ward’s quick 7 helped Yorkshire edge towards a comfortable total. Yet Surrey’s disciplined bowling and sharp fielding prevented any late flourish, with Yorkshire eventually finishing on 133/9 in their 20 overs. The innings included valuable partnerships but lacked the finishing acceleration needed on a good batting surface.

Chasing 134, Surrey Women launched an explosive start that immediately shifted the pressure back onto Yorkshire. Captain Bryony Smith came out attacking from the very first ball and smashed 21 runs off only 8 deliveries, including five boundaries at a staggering strike rate of 262.50. Her aggressive opening stand with Alice Davidson-Richards ensured Surrey raced to 25 before the first wicket fell in just 1.3 overs.

Alice Davidson-Richards then continued the momentum with a fluent 29 off 16 balls, striking five boundaries and maintaining Surrey’s high run rate. Alongside Kira Chathli, who added 14 from 11 deliveries, Surrey kept the scoreboard ticking rapidly. Their partnership helped Surrey reach 43 before Chathli was dismissed by Jess Jonassen, who briefly brought Yorkshire back into the contest.

Jonassen was the pick of Yorkshire’s bowlers, producing an excellent spell of 3/25 from her four overs. She removed Bryony Smith, Kira Chathli, and Laura Harris, keeping Yorkshire alive despite Surrey’s aggressive batting display. Yorkshire sensed an opportunity when Paige Scholfield was run out and Surrey slipped to 83/4 in 7.6 overs. Laura Harris, who played a valuable hand with 19 off 15 balls, striking three boundaries, also departed in the next over at 86/5 (8.5).

However, Jemima Spence and Alice Monaghan showed remarkable composure under pressure. Spence remained unbeaten on 20 off 17 balls, while Monaghan produced the finishing touch with a classy 29 not out from 21 deliveries, including six boundaries. Their unbroken partnership guided Surrey safely home at 134/6 in just 15.3 overs. For Yorkshire Women, Holly Garton and Olivia Thomas managed one wicket apiece, while Rachel Slater bowled economically despite going wicketless.
