Belgium Women’s innings got off to a disastrous start in the opening over as player of the match Sowjanya Talamarla tore through the top order. Talamarla trapped opener Beatrice Pierre leg-before for a duck (0 off 3) on the third ball of the match, bringing Peher Modi to the crease.
Just two balls later, Modi was bowled for a golden duck (0 off 1), reducing Belgium to a precarious 1/2. Shweta Sinha briefly halted the collapse alongside Arussa Ilahi, striking two boundaries in her 11 off 9 balls before Talamarla rattled her stumps to break the 14-run partnership at 15/3.
