In reply, CDQ finished on 127/7 in 20 overs, with Nidhi Mahto scoring 63 off 55 balls and Monika adding 30 off 19 balls. Medhavi Bidhuri was one of East Delhi’s key performers with the ball, taking 2 wickets for 24 runs in her four overs. Her 6/7 celebration also became one of the talking points after the match.

Speaking about the celebration, Bidhuri explained the reason behind the 6/7 gesture and how it is linked to her jersey number. She said, “I did that 6/7 because its trending and my also because my sister asked to do this celebration as she is a gen z and also asked me to keep my jersey number 67.” The celebration had a personal connection for her, as her sister had asked her to do it. Her jersey number 67 also made the celebration more special.

Bidhuri also spoke about her bowling plan and explained that taking wickets was not her main focus during the spell. She said, “I was not mainly focusing on taking wickets. It was my motive to not to go for boundaries. I wanted my maximum balls should be dots.” Her four-over spell saw her give away 24 runs and take two wickets. She focused on keeping the scoring under control and making it difficult for the batters to find boundaries.

For East Delhi, this was the team’s first match in the tournament, and Bidhuri spoke about the experience despite the team ending on the losing side.

She said, “It was really nice and there were many settlements in the team and we had the learnings that we don’t have to do in the next match.”

She looked at the game as an important learning experience for the team. The result gave East Delhi areas to work on, while also helping the players understand what they need to improve in their next match.

Looking at the positives from the game, Bidhuri praised the bowling effort and said, “Our bowlers did really well and bowled in the right areas.” She felt the bowling group gave the team something positive to take forward. East Delhi’s bowlers took seven wickets during CDQ’s innings and kept the opposition under control for large parts of the chase. Bidhuri wants the team to build on that effort in the matches ahead and improve from this game and stay focused on the basics together in the next game.

Bidhuri also shared what she wants to see from East Delhi’s batting group in the upcoming matches. She said, “I want our batters who looked pretty underconfident today to play confidently.”

She wants the batting group to show more confidence and play with belief in the matches ahead. For East Delhi, the focus now will be on taking the lessons from their first match and using them in the games ahead. Bidhuri hopes the team can return with greater confidence and use the bowling effort and lessons from this first game ahead.
