The Namibia women’s cricket team is gearing up for a thrilling start to the year with their upcoming T20I quadrangular tournament at Uganda. As a part of the Women’s Day Cup, Namibia will face off against Uganda, Hong Kong and Nepal. The tournament begins on March 8, International Women’s Day and concludes on March 16.

The Women’s Day Cup promises to be an exciting contest as the four emerging teams clash in a bid to improve their T20I rankings and make a mark on the international stage.
The 14-member Namibian squad is all set to depart for Uganda on March 5. It is a well-rounded squad led by Captain and all-rounder Sune Wittmann alongside Vice Captain Yasmeen Khan, a middle-order batter also featuring key performers such as Wilka Mwatile and Saima Tuhadeleni, who have been instrumental in the bowling attack.
The team also includes experienced players like Arrasta Diergaardt, and Kayleen Green, while youngsters Edelle van Zyl, Bianca Manuel, Mezerly Gorases, Leigh-Marie Visser, Mekelaye Mwatile, Naomi Benjamin, Sylvia Shihepo bring fresh energy to the lineup.
The Capricorn Eagles enter the upcoming tournament on the back of an impressive 2024 campaign, having dominated Malaysia in a T20I series with a 3-0 clean sweep. They also delivered a strong performance in Hong Kong, reaching the final before narrowly missing out on the championship title.
With a recent encounter against Hong Kong, the Namibian side will be eager to come out on top this time around. Additionally, their previous meeting with Uganda was during the 2023 ICC Women’s T20I World Cup Africa Qualifier and Capricorn Eagles Series in Windhoek which has built a competitive rivalry, setting the stage for intense clashes.
The Capricorn Eagles will kick off their Women’s Day Cup campaign with a highly anticipated clash against Nepal on March 8. With strong momentum from their recent performances and a well-balanced squad, Namibia will be eager to start the tournament on a winning note and set the tone for a successful campaign in Uganda.
