They suffered a terrible loss the previous day against England who themselves were on the verge of elimination as they had lost their first 3 matches and were in desperate need of a win. Team India in the 2 wins has defeated Pakistan and West Indies by handsome margins as they won both the matches by 107 and 155 runs. The 2 matches they lost have also been big defeats as they lost against New Zealand by 62 runs and were bundled out by England for just 134 which they chased off easily winning the match by 4 wickets.

With 3 more matches left, let’s see what are the chances for team India going into the Semi-Final.

Who is Team India playing in the next 3 fixtures?

Australia – 19th March – Auckland

Bangladesh – 22nd March – Hamilton

South Africa – 27th March – Christchurch

How can they reach the Semi-Final?

Team India must win at least 2 of their remaining 3 matches. It’s going to be a tough task as they face Australia and South Africa who have won all of their 4 matches and have almost sealed their spot in the Semi-Final. Beating Bangladesh might be easy, but the challenge for Team India is to make sure they win against Australia by any means so that they can avoid a must-win scenario in the last 2 games.

What areas must they improve going up against Australia?

Team India’s bowling has been exceptional so far in 2022 WC. All the bowlers are contributing well with the ball and are performing to their standards. But, it’s the batting that’s been a major concern. Apart from Smriti Mandhana and Harmanpreet Kaur, the other 4 batters in Yastika Bhatia, Mithali Raj, Deepti Sharma and Richa Ghosh haven’t stepped up yet.

Mithali Raj, the Indian captain has had a horrendous world cup so far as she has got out for 9, 31, 5, and 1 in the 4 matches. Along with her, even Deepti Sharma has been below average in her performance as she has failed with both bat and ball.

Worthwhile speaking about Mithali Raj form, Jhulan Goswami said, “I don’t think it is a concern. Do you know who is batting at No 3, it’s Mithali Raj. She’s just one big knock away from her start. She has performed extremely well in the past series. I think Deepti has done a pretty decent job. I don’t think so we have an issue. It’s just one bad day that we didn’t click as a batting unit,”

Team India will take on Australia on Saturday, March 19th in Auckland. As they will be playing in different conditions. There’s a huge challenge for the Women in Blue in taking down the dominant Aussies.
