Bangladesh Women’s Squad for World Cup 2022 Announced, Jahanara Alam included

The Bangladesh Cricket Board announced their squad for the upcoming Women’s Cricket World Cup 2022. The squad included the right-arm medium-fast bowler Jahanara Alam in their ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup team. Jahanara failed to make the cut to Bangladesh’s Commonwealth Games Qualifiers squad, she wrote to BCB accusing selector Manjurul Islam of mismanagement and bias.

Jahanara is the only player to make it to Bangladesh’s ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup squad who wasn’t part of the Qualifiers. Rest all the players who were part of the Commonwealth Games Qualifiers squad made the cut to the World Cup squad as well.

Jahanara was left out on disciplinary grounds. However, the matter was set right after BCB’s top bosses interfered.

The national team will start its preparation for the upcoming World Cup in New Zealand at the BCB National Cricket Academy from January 29th.

Captain Nigar Sultana expressed her excitement, she said” We’re playing the 50-over World Cup for the first time, so I am excited.”

“Besides that, each and every player is hopeful of doing well. If you look closely at the team we’ve put out, you will see that our team has many young talents alongside experienced players who have been performing well over the years. This squad have been playing together for two years. Our team spirit and confidence is at a high level,” she further added.
