Winning the toss, Melbourne chose to bowl. The Hurricanes problem continued with the bat as the openers failed again, which has been the story so far in the tournament. Heather Knight got a start but failed to convert into big as she got out on 20. She ended up has the highest scorer of the team. The other batters who came in did not score much and kept losing their wickets. It was the spinners who troubled Hurricanes. Strano, Brown, and Molineux picked 3, 2 and 2 wickets respectively. In the end, Hurricanes ended the inning at 108 for 8 in 20 overs.

Chasing the target of 109, Renegades lost Molineux early for 12. Danielle Wyatt and Tammy Beaumont, the English duo did not let the Hurricanes come back in the match as both played a sensible knock of 45 and 37 respectively, which took away the game from visitors. Beaumont lost her wicket on 37, the skipper Duffin came in next and finished the chase with ease in 15.4 overs. Opener Wyatt remained unbeaten at 45. With the ball, it was again Wakerawa who did well with a couple of wickets for Hurricanes.

This is a fourth consecutive defeat for Hurricanes and it looks like the story remains the same for this year too.

Brief Scores: Hurricanes 108 for 8 in 20 overs ( Knight 20 & Strano 3 for 19) lost to Renegades 109 for 2 in 15.4 overs ( Wyatt 45*, Wakerawa 2 for 16) by 8 wickets
