Pakistan, led by skipper Fatima Sana, were up against Hong Kong, led by skipper Natasha Miles, in the 11th match of the ongoing 6th edition of the ACC Women’s T20 Asia Cup 2026 on 7th September 2026, at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Dubai.
Sri Lanka, led by skipper Chamari Athapaththu, defeated Bangladesh, led by skipper Nigar Sultana Joty, by 4 wickets in the 11th match of the tournament on 6th September 2026 to book a spot in the semi-final.
Pakistan skipper Fatima Sana yet again won the toss and opted to bat first. The Pakistani openers Shawaal Zulfiqar and the wicket-keeper batter Muneeba Ali got their side off to a positive start with a 23-run opening stand. Iqra Sahar got the crucial scalp of the experienced Muneeba Ali (6 off 7 balls) in the 3rd over of the innings to provide the 1st breakthrough for Hong Kong.
Pakistan laid a platform in their innings via a 47-run stand for the 3rd wicket between Ayesha Zafar and Shawaal Zulfiqar (47 off 35 balls). Joyleen Kaur broke the stand by sending an ominous Ayesha Zafar (26 off 19 balls) back to the pavilion in the 10th over of the innings to provide the crucial 3rd breakthrough for her side.
A 26-run stand for the 7th wicket between Tuba Hassan and skipper Fatima Sana took them closer to the 130-run mark. Pakistan eventually posted a competitive total of 143/8 in their quota of 20 overs. Skipper Fatima Sana stayed unbeaten on 24* (24 balls), and Tuba Hassan (14 off 13 balls) played their part with the bat for Pakistan. The innings had 13 extras.
Joyleen Kaur (4-0-19-4), Iqra Sahar (4-0-27-2) and Kary Chan (4-0-33-2) were the top performers with the ball for Hong Kong. Marina Lamplough (3-0-15-0) was impressive in her spell with the ball for her side.
Chasing a challenging total of 144, Hong Kong got off to the worst possible start as they lost both their openers inside the first couple of overs in the run chase. Kary Chan joined the wicket-keeper batter Yasmin Daswani at the crease, and the duo led some sort of a recovery with a 31-run partnership for the 3rd wicket. Nashra Sandhu halted a spirited fightback by sending the wicket-keeper batter Yasmin Daswani (13 off 18 balls) back to the pavilion in the 9th over of the innings to provide a crucial 3rd breakthrough for Pakistan.
The left-arm spinner then triggered a collapse, reducing Hong Kong to 55/9 in the 16th over of the run chase. The Natasha Miles-led side lost their next 6 wickets for just 23 runs. Ruchitha Venkatesh (9 off 13 balls) joined Joyleen Kaur (10 off 12 balls) at the crease, and the pair tried their best to delay the inevitable, reducing the deficit with a 16-run 10th-wicket stand.
Umm-e-Hani sealed the game by dismissing Joyleen Kaur as Hong were bundled out for 71 in 19 overs, falling 72 runs short of the target, with an over to spare. Kary Chan (30 off 47 balls) top-scored with the bat for Hong Kong. Nashra Sandhu (4-0-7-6) stood out as she registered her career-best and the best figures by a Pakistani bowler in Women’s T20Is.
Skipper Fatima Sana (3-0-7-1), Sadia Iqbal (2-1-8-1), Ayesha Zafar (3-1-11-1) and Umm-e-Hani (4-0-21-1) played their part with the ball for Pakistan. Nashra Sandhu was awarded Player of the Match as she played a massive role in Pakistan securing their spot in the semi-final of the 6th edition of the ACC Women’s T20 Asia Cup. They will be facing Chamari Athapaththu’s Sri Lanka in the 2nd semi-final on 11th September in their bid for a spot in the final.
