Currently, Sri Lanka is hosting the ninth edition of the Women’s Asia Cup. The tournament is being played from July 19th to July 28th, with eight teams participating. The teams are divided into two groups. The eighth match was played between Thailand and Bangladesh. The latter secured a 7-wicket victory over Thailand in a must-win game to keep their playoff hopes alive. Bangladesh comfortably chased down the target of 97 set by Thailand.

Highlights from the match:

1) Rabeya Khan 4/14 (Bangladesh)

The Bangladesh spinner put up a masterclass with the ball during Bangladesh’s clash against Thailand. She was brought in after the powerplay, and the decision was spot-on with her first victim being Aphisara Suwanchonrathi, followed by a wicket two balls later in the form of Nannapat Koncharoenkai. She finished with figures of 4 for 14 in four overs.

2) Nattaya Boochatham 40 (Thailand)

The Thailand opener’s 40 helped Thailand set a total of 97. She didn’t receive much support from other batters as the Bangladesh bowlers were on top. Nattaya scored four boundaries in her innings before she was dismissed for 40, with Rabeya dismantling her stumps.

3) Murshida Khatun 50 (Bangladesh)

The left-handed batter scored a brilliant 50 to guide Bangladesh to a 7-wicket victory over Thailand. Murshida took her time initially in her innings before taking on the Thailand bowlers. It was also the first fifty by a Bangladesh player in the ninth edition of the Women’s Asia Cup.
