Sri Lanka faced Malaysia in the seventh match of the Women’s Asia Cup. After electing to bat first, the islanders put up a total of 184, with Athapaththu recording her third T20I century. The left-handed batter scored an unbeaten 119, supported by Anushka Sanjeewani’s 31. Chasing a total of 184, the Malaysian side struggled, losing early wickets at regular intervals. They were bowled out for 40, with Shashini Gimhani topping the bowling chart for the islanders, finishing with figures of 3 for 9 in four overs. Sri Lanka’s victory over Malaysia ensured a semi-final spot for the hosts, as it was their second consecutive victory in the group stages after beating Malaysia by 144 runs.
