This ninth edition of the tournament is taking place from July 19 to July 28, 2024, in Sri Lanka. It features eight teams, with all matches played as T20 Internationals in preparation for the upcoming T20 World Cup. The tournament format includes a group round-robin stage followed by knockouts. India is placed in Group A alongside Nepal, the United Arab Emirates, and Pakistan.

Shreyanka Patil sustained a fracture on her left-hand finger while fielding against Pakistan on Friday. Following expert consultation, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) medical team has ruled her out for the remainder of the tournament to ensure optimal recovery and long-term management. In the opening game against Pakistan, Patil claimed 2 wickets for 14 runs in 3.2 overs, with an impressive economy of 4.20, helping India secure a 7-wicket victory.

The Women’s Selection Committee has named Tanuja Kanwer as a replacement for Shreyanka Patil. Kanwer, who was earlier in the traveling reserves, has now been included in the squad. She represented Gujarat Giants in the Women’s Premier League, taking 10 wickets in the 2024 edition, but has yet to play for the senior team.
