Players to watch out:

Shafali Verma

The 20-year-old opening batter, from 76 T20I outings, has amassed 1,788 runs at an average of 24.49 and a strike rate of 129.65, while also taking 10 wickets from 17 innings. Shafali has been in excellent form of late, and in the lead-up to the Asia Cup, registered scores of 18 and 21* against South Africa. Carrying her form into the competition, she scored a solid 40 in her first outing and can be relied upon to lead the tally.

Shreyanka Patil

The 21-year-old right-arm off-spinner, from 12 T20Is, has scalped 16 wickets, including a best of 3/19, maintaining an economy rate of 7.14. Shreyanka’s returns with the ball from her previous 3 T20Is, including the tournament opener, read 1/37, 1/19, and 2/14. Her ability to produce breakthroughs stands out and is also reflected in her consistent bowling returns. Given her recent success, she can be relied upon for wickets.

Theertha Satish

The 20-year-old keeper-batter, averaging 28.37, has racked up 1,362 runs, including the highest score of 93, at a strike rate of 107.75, from 61 T20I innings. Theertha had a notable campaign earlier this year in April-May, registering scores of 26, 22, 36*, and 44. However, departing for 9 in the curtain-raiser, she hasn’t had an ideal start to this campaign but should be backed to find her footing, as she can deliver important knocks.

Heena Hotchandani

The 23-year-old left-arm off-spinner, averaging 11.47 and maintaining an economy rate of 4.27, has bagged 17 wickets from as many bowling outings and has also been handy with the bat on a few occasions. Heena was extraordinary in the Asia Cup qualifier earlier this year but has managed only a couple of wickets in her previous 6 T20Is, though she has been very economical and among the runs. Count on her for an all-round effort.

Pitch:

The 22 yards at the Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium offer a well-balanced playing surface that is suited for both batters and bowlers. While spinners enjoy the assistance of the pitch, batters are rewarded for their shots, and the average score at the venue is in the 140s.

Weather:

With moderate winds, 60% humidity, and the temperature expected to be around 32°C, the conditions are ideal for a game in Dambulla. With partly cloudy skies and minimal chances of rain, we should have a complete game.
