Harmanpreet Kaur and Nida Dar have their say ahead of the El Classico clash in the ACC Women’s Asia Cup 2024
The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) Women’s T20 Asia Cup will be hosted by Sri Lanka and all the matches will be played in Dambulla. The tournament is set to get underway on 19th July 2024 and will conclude on 28th July 2024.
“This tournament is very important for all of us because we give equal respect to this tournament and want to improve at the Asian as well as at the world level. So our focus will remain the same as we prepare for the T20 World Cup or any other World Cup. Each and every game is important for us and we will try to give our best.” The Indian skipper Harmanpreet Kaur speaks about continuing to improve as a side and treating each game at it’s merit as they prepare for the upcoming ICC Women’s T20 World Cup.
Following the conclusion of the ACC Women’s T20 Asia Cup, the Indian women’s team will have a well-deserved break before they head to Bangladesh for the T20 World Cup. The upcoming edition is the 9th edition of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup. The tournament will be hosted by Bangladesh from 3rd October 2024. India will commence their T20 World Cup campaign on 4th October 2024 against New Zealand in Sylhet. The tournament will conclude on 20th October 2024.
The Women in Blue has displayed complete dominance over the years in the T20 Asia Cup, winning three out of the tournament’s four editions (2012, 2016, and 2022) so far. The upcoming edition is the 5th edition of the tournament. The Indian team will kickstart their campaign against the arch-rivals Pakistan on 19th July 2024 (Friday) in Dambulla from 7 PM IST.
The Women in Blue has the wood over their arch-rivals Pakistan, having won five out of their six matches in the T20 format of the Asia Cup. Their only defeat came in the last edition of the tournament on 7th October 2022 when they ended up 13 runs short of the target. “Playing against India is valuable as they play with a great approach in T20s.
