As the 2024 edition of The Hundred approaches, recent player replacements have been announced due to injuries or unavailability for international duty. Running from July 23 to August 18, 2024, this fourth season features eight men’s and women’s teams from major cities across England and Wales.
Player Replacements for 2024 The Hundred Women’s:
Manchester Originals:
English all-rounder Bethan Ellis will replace Mahika Gaur, who withdrew due to a side strain and will focus on rehabilitation with the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) and The Thunder medical teams.
Ellis, a right-arm medium bowler and top-order batter, plays domestically for Warwickshire and Central Sparks. In 2019, she helped Warwickshire win the Women’s Twenty20 Cup and was the joint-second leading wicket-taker in Division 1 with 10 wickets at an average of 13.00. In the 2023 season, she joined Central Sparks from the Thunder and was the side’s joint-leading wicket-taker in the Charlotte Edwards Cup with 9 wickets at an average of 13.33.
Australia’s Kim Garth will replace her compatriot Sophie Molineux, who is out with an acute rib fracture. Garth, an all-rounder, has made 28 WBBL appearances, scoring 188 runs and taking 21 wickets, with best figures of 2/2.
London Spirit:
India’s Deepti Sharma has been handed a late call-up, replacing Australia’s Grace Harris, who is out due to a calf injury. Sharma, who played for Spirit in 2021, featured in 8 matches, scoring 77 runs and taking 10 wickets with an economy of 5.26.
Australia’s Erin Burns will temporarily replace Deepti Sharma while she is on international duty. Burns, who has played for Birmingham Phoenix and Manchester Originals in The Hundred, has appeared in 18 matches, scoring 267 runs and taking 10 wickets with an economy of 6.08.
Oval Invincibles:
While it is confirmed that left-arm pacer Tash Farrant has been ruled out with a hamstring injury, her replacement hasn’t been named yet.
Veteran Australian bowler Megan Schutt, who was originally set to join the London Spirit as a replacement player, will now join the Oval Invincibles, replacing the injured Tash Farrant.
