Bio:
Kate Cross, a talented right-arm medium-pacer and lower-order batter, made her T20 International debut on 24 October 2013 against the West Indies during the West Indies Tri-Nation T20 Women’s Series in Bridgetown. She then played her first ODI on 29 October 2013 against the West Indies during England’s tour of the West Indies in Port of Spain. A year later, on 10 January 2014, she made her Test debut against Australia during England’s tour of Australia in Perth, where she showcased her class by taking six wickets.
Cross began her cricket journey very early on. In 2006, she became the first female cricketer accepted into the Lancashire Academy. Through strong dedication and hard work, she was selected for the Lancashire women’s senior side at just 13 years old. In April 2014, Cross was one of 18 women awarded the first professional contracts by the ECB. She made history as the first female cricketer to play in the Central Lancashire League, where she performed well and displayed her bowling prowess. In June 2019, the ECB named her in England’s squad for their opening match against Australia in the Women’s Ashes. Subsequently, Cross was selected for England’s squad for the 2020 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in Australia.
Cross was named in England’s squad for their tour to Australia to contest the Women’s Ashes in 2021. In February 2022, she was selected for England’s team for the 2022 Women’s Cricket World Cup in New Zealand. Cross was also part of the England women’s team for the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, England.
She has a good experience in domestic leagues and notably made her debut as captain for the Manchester Originals in The Hundred in July 2021. In her debut season, she was the leading wicket-taker for Manchester Originals with 12 wickets. She has also represented England Academy Women, Lancashire Women, Brisbane Heat Women, Northern Superchargers Women, Royal Challengers Bangalore Women, Velocity, and Sapphires in various domestic leagues.
