Brief History of Romania Women’s National Cricket Team
The Romania national women’s cricket team represents the country in international women’s cricket. With the International Cricket Council (ICC) granting full Women’s Twenty20 International (WT20I) status to all its members in April 2018, Romania’s women’s team gained recognition and the opportunity to compete with international status.
The team made their WT20I debut on 27 August 2022, against Malta, at the Moara Vlasiei Cricket Ground in Ilfov County, Malta batted first and posted a total of 105/4 in their allotted 20 overs. In response, Romania struggled to chase the target and were bowled out for 73 runs in 18.5 overs. Clara Popa was the top-scorer for Romania with 20 runs, while several batters failed to make significant contributions, and they lost their maiden international match by 32 runs.
