Bio:

Ashleigh Gardner, an allrounder, has become an integral part of the Australian cricket team. She made her international debut in February 2017 and has since established herself as a key player.

In domestic cricket, Gardner plays for New South Wales in the Women’s National Cricket League (WNCL). Across all formats on the international stage, as of 2024, she has scored 14 half-centuries, taken two five-wicket hauls, and one ten-wicket haul.

In T20 Internationals (T20Is), she made her debut on February 17, 2017, against New Zealand during New Zealand’s tour of Australia at Melbourne. As of 2024, Gardner has scored over 1,300 runs and taken more than 60 wickets in T20Is.

In One Day Internationals (ODIs), Gardner made her debut on March 2, 2017, against New Zealand during Australia’s tour of New Zealand at Mount Maunganui. In June 2017, Gardner became the first Indigenous Australian woman to appear in a cricket World Cup, playing against the West Indies in the 2017 Women’s Cricket World Cup. As of 2024, she has scored over 970 runs and taken more than 80 wickets in ODIs.

In Tests, Gardner made her debut on July 18, 2019, against England during Australia’s tour of England at Taunton. During the 2023 Women’s Ashes Test, she achieved match figures of 12/165, securing an 89-run victory for Australia over England at Trent Bridge. In this match, during the second innings, she took 8/66, the best bowling figures in Australian women’s cricket history. As of 2024, she has scored over 280 runs and taken more than 20 wickets in Tests.

In franchise cricket, as of 2024, Gardner plays for the Sydney Sixers in the Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) and the Gujarat Giants in the Women’s Premier League (WPL). In the early years of the WBBL, she was named the Young Gun of the WBBL|02 season. During the WBBL in the 08 season, she was named the Player of the Tournament.

Gardner’s individual honors include winning the Belinda Clark Award twice (2022, 2024), being named the WBBL Player of the Tournament for the 2022–23 season and receiving the WBBL Young Gun Award for the 2016–17 season.
