India’s N Sree Charani has reached a career-best 817 rating points in the ICC Women’s T20I Bowling Rankings. The left-arm spinner has moved past Australia’s Megan Schutt, whose previous high of 806 points was set in November 2018. Charani’s new rating is the highest ever achieved in the Women’s T20I Bowling Rankings.
Charani was an important part of India’s successful campaigns in the Women’s Asia Cup and the Asian Games in Japan. She took 12 wickets during the Asia Cup, including 4/20 in the final against Sri Lanka. India won that match by 72 runs and lifted the trophy for the eighth time.
At the Asian Games, Charani produced career-best figures of 4/10 against hosts Japan to help India reach the semi-finals. She then claimed two wickets in the gold-medal match against Sri Lanka on 22 September. India won that match by 147 runs, and Charani’s performance helped take her rating to its record 817-point peak.
Deepti Sharma has also moved up the T20I Bowling Rankings after taking three wickets in the Asian Games final against Sri Lanka. She now has 754 points, while England’s Sophie Ecclestone is third with 723. In the batting rankings, India opener Smriti Mandhana has returned to the top five after scoring 79 in India’s win over Sri Lanka in the Asian Games final.
The ODI series between Zimbabwe and West Indies in Harare has produced several other ranking movements. The series is currently tied at 1-1, with players from both sides making gains. West Indies all-rounder Hayley Matthews has moved three places to fourth in the ODI Batting Rankings with 711 points. Her rating is now just behind her career-best mark of 714.
Matthews made that rise after scoring a record 182 in the first ODI against Zimbabwe. Her teammate Realeanna Grimmond has climbed 34 places to joint 102nd with 270 points. Zimbabwe’s Nyasha Gwanzura also made a major move after helping her side win the second game against West Indies with an unbeaten 18 and career-best figures of 4/33.
Gwanzura has risen 52 places to 156th in the ICC ODI Women’s Bowling Rankings. Zimbabwe’s Modester Mupachikwa has also moved higher in the ODI Batting Rankings. After scores of 86 and 38 across the two matches, she climbed 16 places to a career-best 40th with 492 points.
Francisca Chipare climbed 26 places to joint 123rd after figures of 2/57 and 2/16 across the two matches. West Indies players also moved up, with Ashmini Munisar rising 23 places to joint 84th and Aaliyah Alleyne moving eight places to 58th. Alleyne took 3/44 in the series opener and 2/27 in the second game, while Munisar claimed four wickets at an average of 10.5.
Australia’s Ash Gardner remains top of the ODI All-Rounder Rankings with 497 points, while Hayley Matthews leads the T20I equivalent with 502. Alana King is first in the ODI Bowling Rankings with 753 points. Beth Mooney leads the T20I Batting Rankings with 785 points after reclaiming it from teammate Georgia Voll, who has 779, following her Player-of-the-Tournament heroics in the T20 World Cup final.
Smriti Mandhana continues to hold the ODI Batting summit with 790 points. She leads Laura Wolvaardt, who has 782, by eight points. The latest update also highlights movement across rankings today. It therefore shows strong movements across several categories, with Charani making the biggest mark through her record rating. Her 817 points now stand as the highest-ever rating achieved in the Women’s T20I Bowling Rankings, while the other leading names continue to hold their places across the major lists.
