Cricketer Mithali Raj has been roped in as the brand ambassador for L’oreal Paris new Casting Crème Gloss campaign #AShadeApart.
Mithali who has been the guiding light for women’s cricket in India for over two decades seems to be the perfect choice to endorse a brand that seeks to empower women who have embraced their unique self and chosen the path less traveled.
The veteran cricketer along with actress Aditi Rao Hydari and popular TV personality Shakti Mohan has been roped in to further the brand’s ambition of various shades of beauty, encouraging women to embrace their uniqueness and celebrate their self-worth.
“The life I’ve created on this path made me who I am and I’m worth it. I am excited to collaborate with L’Oreal Paris and spread the message of beauty and inclusivity. Women must be encouraged to see the beauty in their uniqueness,” Mithali was quoted as saying.
Interestingly, L’Oreal Paris in India and abroad has had a history of working only with popular actors and models who sport a certain kind of image in the public. The women who represent the brand are generally glamorous, sleek and a regular in the media eye. Earlier, Aishwarya Rai and Sonam Kapoor have been the brand ambassadors for L’oreal. Hence, having cricketer Mithali Raj on board can be termed an unconventional choice in this sense.
Mithali Raj is a name synonymous with shattering barriers. Often regarded as one of the greatest batswomen to have ever played the game, Mithali Raj is the highest run-scorer in women’s international cricket and the only female cricketer to surpass the 6,000 run mark in WODIs. She is the first player to score seven consecutive 50s in ODI is the first cricketer (male or female) to surpass 2000 T20 international runs. She is a proud recipient of the Arjuna Award and was conferred the very prestigious Padma Shri in 2015 for her cricketing achievements.
Pau Gruart, L’Oréal Paris spokesperson said, “We are happy to welcome three strong, independent and diverse women to L’Oréal Paris. Aditi, Mithali and Shakti are a source of inspiration to many young women in India; they have challenged the status quo and created a space for themselves beyond conventionality. Our campaign with them truly represents their diversity as well as the uniqueness of real women and what makes them #AShadeApart.”
