The rivalry between the Indian Women and the Australian Women has been brewing for quite a long time, and it once again delivered an intense face-off between the sides, with Australia coming out on top at the end.

India started their 2026 Australia tour brilliantly, with a solid 2-1 series win in the T20Is, but Australia showed tremendous character to bounce back and whitewash the visitors 3-0 in the ODIs. The One-Off Test was also won by the Australian side, by 10 wickets, as they secured a commanding 12-4 win, considering matches played across formats.
This result also mirrors the previous triumph of the Australian side, where they defeated India 11-5, dominantly defending their trophy and stole the bragging rights in this prestigious rivalry between two of the best sides in world cricket.
In the T20I series, the Indian Women won the first match by 21 runs (DLS Method), with Arundhati Reddy producing a wonderful spell of bowling to limit Australia to 133, picking up 4 wickets, giving away just 22 runs. However, the lead was short-lived as the Australian side bounced back with a fine win by 19 runs, credit to some powerful batting from Georgia Voll, who scored a stunning 88 off just 57 balls. In the series decider, India had the opportunity to bat first, and they put up a strong total of 177 on board as Smriti Mandhana scored a scintillating 82 off just 55 balls.
The ODI series was heavily one-sided as Australia left no room for error in the entire series. Beth Mooney had stepped up her game in the first game and scored a fabulous half-century to secure the win by 6 wickets. India put up a much better batting performance in the second game as they put up 251 on board, but Georgia Voll was too hot to handle for India’s bowling unit as she scored a marvelous century.
In the final game of the series, Australia had all guns blazing as their skipper Alyssa Healy scored a wonderful 158 off 98 balls, and she was accompanied by Beth Mooney, who scored an unbeaten 106 off 84 balls. The Australian Women posted a mammoth 409/7 and won the match by 185 runs and swept the ODI series 3-0.
The one-off test match was also dominated by the Australian side as Annabel Sutherland had scored 129 runs in the 1st innings, helping Australia take a 125 runs lead and also picked up 6 wickets in the Test. India had some of their players putting up good fights with the likes of Jemimah Rodrigues and Pratika Rawal scoring half-centuries, along with Sayali Sathgare, who picked up a fine 4-wicket haul in her debut test match for India.
The multi-format points series between India Women and Australia Women has always been quite one-sided, with Australia always leading the contest. In terms of the magnitude of the matches won, India will be happy with the result as they could halt the mighty Australia in the Semi-Final of the 2025 ICC Women’s ODI World Cup. India will be confident about their white-ball cricket as they have shown signs of massive improvement with various players stepping up from each department.
India will have to make the best use of the potential resources, as they could possibly dominate the Australian side as well in a couple of years if they are able to bring out the best in each player with well-defined roles. It could be only a matter of time until India can get the better of Australia in the multi-format points series between the two sides.
