The Assam Cricket Association (ACA) has announced their squad for the Senior Women’s Cricket Friendly series involving two matches against Namibia, which is set to commence this January. The venues for the One-Day matches will be the MSA Stadium and the ACA Cricket Ground, Guwahati.

Uma Chetry is set to lead the side for the series, and she will be hoping her women will rise to the occasion. The ACA has picked a squad that consists of both experienced players and young prospects. This series will provide the Assam Women an opportunity to compete in international standards against a team that will test their skill and temperament.
The Assam Women’s squad consists of players who have performed consistently and also young talents, so it will be interesting to see how well they blend experience with potential. Uma Chetry’s leadership and batting skills would be necessary to guide the team and the batting unit. She has been one of the most consistent batters in the side, and her batting lays the foundation for the rest of the batters to build on.
Jintimani Kalita has been appointed as the vice-captain, and her experience will strengthen both the batting and bowling departments. She has been an all-round star for the Assam Women’s cricket team with her stellar batting performances and her ability to bowl economically and pick important wickets.
Archana Devi is another key performer to watch out for in their bowling unit. She has been consistent in picking wickets and building pressure on the opposition with her tight bowling in the shortest format of the game. The Namibian side could pay dearly if they wish to adopt the modern-day T20 approach, as Devi has a knack for breaking partnerships and slowing down the innings of the opponents.
Assam has been quite good this domestic season, showing resilience and character even in tough matches. Uma Chetry and Kalita anchored the innings and helped Assam to get to a respectable total many times, and they had improved their shot selection.
One of the key moments of the tournament came when Assam chased down 230 against Odisha and won the match by 6 wickets. In the Senior Women’s T20 Trophy, the Assam Women had beaten the Rajasthan Women by 4 wickets in Trivandrum. Priyanka Boruah, Gayatri Gurung and Rashmi Dey played an equal part in securing the victory in the 2nd innings with controlled and composed batting till the end.
