A dream debut for Anjali Chand as she records the best bowling figures in T20I’s for Nepal in South Asian games held recently, she bowled a fiery spell giving no runs and picked up 6 wickets.
The 24-year-old’s 6/0 came in just 13 deliveries as the Maldives were sent back in just 16 runs in 10.1 overs. First three wickets were taken down in first over but not a hat-trick, next two wickets were grabbed by her second over while the last i.e sixth wicket was bowled in the first ball of her third over. The game was held at Pokhra cricket ground (Nepal).
Eight Maldives batters got out without opening their account, while two made single-digit scores The hosts took just five balls to chase down the minimal runs, winning with 115 balls to spare. The run chase lasted just seven deliveries, of which five were legal. This humongous 10 wicket victory puts up Nepal as table toppers followed by their opponents in the contest Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.
Chand surpassed the previous record which was scripted by Mas Elysa -6/0 for malaysia against China in January 2019. The best figures in men’s T20Is was recorded last month with India medium-pacer Deepak Chahar finishing with 6/7 against Bangladesh.
Nepal’s victory in 5 balls is however not the quickest win as Rwanda and Tanzania had defeated Mali in just 4 balls earlier this year in July 2019.
