Nepal bowler Anjali Chand took 6 wickets in total as the Maldives were dismissed on a paltry score. It took Nepal less than one over to chase down the target of 17.

South Asian Games 2019 have kicked off in Nepal. This time, the tournament also features Women’s T20 cricket. The first game of the tournament took place on 2nd December at Pokhara Rangasala, Pokhara between Maldives and Nepal. Maldives Women won the toss and elected to bat first.

Having opted to bat first, Maldives Women had a miserable day on the field. Nepal bowlers dominated the Maldives batters. Both the openers were run-out and then Karuna Bhandari took two quick wickets. Thereafter it was all Anjali Chand’s show. The bowler took 3 wickets in the first over that she bowled, also dismissing Maldives captain Zoona Mariyam. She took the remaining wickets soon after. At the end of the innings, her bowling card read 2.1-2-0-6. Her terrific display of bowling gave her 6 wickets and she didn’t even give any runs in the 2.1 overs that she bowled. The Maldives were all-out within 11 overs scoring only 16 runs. Hamza Niyaz 9(11) and Hafsaa Abdhulla 4(10) were the only scorers for them. All the remaining batters were dismissed on ducks!

In reply, Nepal Women showed credibility with the bat. They chased down the target of 17 within 5 balls of play. Kajal Shrestha scored 3 fours in her 5-ball 13 while Maldives handed them 4 runs in the form of extras. Nepal women chased the score within one over and won the match by 10 wickets.
