One of the biggest highlights of the LA28 schedule is the long-awaited return of cricket, which is making a comeback to the Olympics after more than 100 years. The women’s cricket final, medal games, has been fixed for 20 July.

Cricket has not featured in the Olympics since 1900, when only two teams, Great Britain and France, played a single two-day match. Great Britain won the gold in that historic contest. This time, six teams will take part. Earlier, the plan was to pick the top six sides from the ICC T20I rankings, but that idea has been dropped. Instead, each global region will send its highest-ranked team, and the final spot will be filled through a world qualifier.

All cricket matches will be played at a temporary, specially built stadium at the Fairgrounds in Pomona, a city located around 50 km from Los Angeles. Most match days will feature double-headers, with games scheduled to start at 9:30 PM and 7 AM Indian Standard Time (IST).

Fans eager to be part of the 2028 Olympics will be able to register for tickets starting January next year.
