The Indian Women’s cricket team has leaped up, on the MRF Tyres ICC rankings table and so have the Indian teen sensations, Jemimah Rodrigues and Shafali Verma.
Team India leapfrogged former world champions, West Indies, and moved to the 4th position on the team rankings table after reaching 260 points, while the Windies are now at number 5, after losing 10 points after the recently concluded India’s limited-overs tour of West Indies.
Mumbai’s Jemimah Rodrigues has moved up 3 positions on the player rankings table and is now at number 4 and India’s youngest star who made 158 runs and was declared ‘Player of the Series’ against the Windies, the 15-year-old Shafali Verma is now on the 30th position after moving up by 57 slots.
The table also includes 3 Indian bowlers in the top 5, with Radha Yadav moving up to the second spot, Deepti Sharma retaining her 4th position, followed by Poonam Yadav on number 5. Another notable advancement is middle-order batter Veda Krishnamurthy moving up to the 49th spot from the 61st.
These advancements on the rankings table and a clean-sweep against the former world champions West Indies at their home ahead of the T20 World Cup 2020 is exactly what Team India was looking for.
