The Cricket Association for the Blind in India (CABI) and Cricket Association for Blind in Delhi (CABD) announced this tournament earlier this week in a press release on their website, blindcricket.in. They also thanked Smriti in the same article for being the brand ambassador of this inaugural tournament.

Smriti wished the best to the girls participating in this contest saying “I am proud to be associated with the first ever Women’s National T20 Blind Cricket Tournament. Come on girls, enjoy yourself and enjoy the game because for us you are already superheroes. My best wishes are with you”.

The tournament begins on 15th December in Delhi with cultural programmes and matches begin on the next day. 8 state teams will participate, namely – Uttrakhand, Jharkhand, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Kerala, Odisha and West Bengal. It’s a 4-day affair and will wrap up on the 19th of December.

Such initiatives go a long way in giving opportunities to talented young females who deserve it and this contest can be a stepping stone in the direction of more such initiatives for female cricketers in the future.
