Omaima Sohail has grown into that dependable middle order batter and a right-arm off-break bowler capable of breaking partnerships at crucial stages. Omaima’s cricketing journey reflects versatility, patience, and a gradual rise from domestic stalwart to international regular.

Before donning the green of Pakistan, Omaima honed her skills across a wide domestic circuit representing Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Karachi, Omar Associates, Zarai Taraqiati Bank Limited, and State Bank of Pakistan.

Omaima Sohail’s International Career

She made her ODI debut on 8 October 2018 and, just weeks later, her T20I debut against Australia on 25 October 2018 during the ICC Women’s World T20 in the West Indies. Although she was initially in the squad for the 2018 Women’s Asia Cup but did not play, her subsequent debut series marked the beginning of her role as a reliable presence in Pakistan’s middle order and a handy spin option.

In 38 ODI batting innings, Omaima has accumulated 762 runs, including the highest score of 65. While she has not yet converted her starts into big centuries, her ability to build partnerships and anchor the innings has been invaluable to Pakistan. Whether steadying collapses or pushing the tempo in the middle overs, she plays the role of a stabilizer, something every successful ODI team needs.

Though primarily recognized for her batting, Omaima’s right-arm off-breaks add depth to Pakistan’s bowling arsenal. In 30 ODI innings, she has picked up 18 wickets, with best figures of 2/7. She may not be a strike bowler, but her knack for breaking partnerships and controlling runs has often relieved pressure for her side.

More recently, she was part of the squads for the 2024 Women’s T20 World Cup and the 2025 Women’s World Cup Qualifier on home soil, a reflection of her sustained value in Pakistan’s plans.

In a developing side like Pakistan, where depth and consistency are works in progress, Omaima embodies balance, the kind of cricketer who gives coaches flexibility and teammates confidence.
