Tryon has had a knack for producing performances that tilt matches and turn heads. Fifteen years later, she etched her name in history once more by becoming the first woman to score a half-century and take a hat-trick in the same ODI, during a tri-series clash in Sri Lanka in May 2025.
Chloe Tryon’s International Numbers
Across her career, Tryon has grown into one of South Africa’s most trusted cricketers, amassing 2116 runs in international cricket as a powerful middle-order hitter and collecting 56 wickets, with the best of 5/34. Her ability to change the course of a match with bat or ball has made her a valuable all-rounder, whether in a crunch chase or in conditions where others struggle.
One of her most memorable batting performances came in the final of a home tri-series in East London in 2020, when she scored an unbeaten 57* against India on a tricky surface, guiding South Africa from 47 for 4 to a remarkable victory. Similarly, her record-breaking 142-run sixth-wicket partnership alongside Suné Luus in ODIs remains one of the defining examples of her fighting spirit.
Beyond numbers, Tryon’s influence extends to leadership and mentorship. She has served as South Africa’s vice-captain, including at the 2020 and 2022 World Cups, and has been a guiding figure for younger players both at home and in franchise leagues worldwide- whether in the Women’s Big Bash League, The Hundred, and the Women’s Caribbean Premier League.
Her recent ODI hat-trick and five-wicket haul in Colombo were reminders that at 31, Tryon still has the ability to rewrite records and shape matches. With over 200 international appearances, she has built a career defined by big moments and clutch contributions, proving again and again that when South Africa needs someone to step up, Chloe Tryon rarely disappoints.
