The stage is set for one of the most inspiring and empowering chapters in women’s cricket, the 2nd edition of the European Cricket Meltl Shield, returning from 15th to 21st September 2025 at the picturesque Cártama Oval in Málaga, Spain.

What began as a historic best-of-nine series in Rome last August, a captivating duel between Team Europe and Team Britain & Ireland, has now expanded into a truly global spectacle. This year, the tournament embraces a four-team format, mirroring the success of the Weston Shield, to bring together the European XI, British & Irish XI, World XI, and Asian XI. Once again, women’s cricket will take the spotlight, celebrated across high-octane T10 clashes.
The Meltl Shield, named in honour of Manuela Meltl-Weston, wife of ECN founder Daniel Weston, remains committed to its mission: increasing visibility, providing opportunities, and building icons in the women’s game across Europe and beyond.
This year’s edition not only raises the bar competition-wise but also elevates its symbolic value by appointing icon players as captains and mentors:
Babette de Leede (European XI): A powerhouse batter and wicketkeeper, De Leede returns as one of Europe’s most influential names. Her leadership promises to blend aggression with tactical finesse.
