India A Squad Announced for Women’s World Cup 2025 Warm-up Games; Minnu Mani to Lead

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has named the India A squad that will feature in the official warm-up matches of the ICC Women’s ODI World Cup 2025. The squad, led by Minnu Mani, has been carefully assembled to provide solid competition to the main teams and also give the selectors a closer look at some of the fringe players in the national setup.

Several members of this squad are also part of the stand-by list for the World Cup. These include Tejal Hasabnis, Prema Rawat, Priya Mishra, Uma Chetry, Minnu Mani, and Sayali Satghare, all of whom remain in contention should last-minute changes be required in the main team.

India A recently scripted a memorable 2-1 series win against hosts Australia A in their ongoing tour. That squad, captained by Radha Yadav, has seen some changes ahead of the warm-up fixtures. Radha Yadav and Yastika Bhatia have moved into India’s 15-member World Cup squad, while Joshita VJ and Shabnam Shakeel have not been included this time.

Meanwhile, fresh faces like Vrinda Dinesh, Sayali Satghare, and Priya Mishra have been drafted into the warm-up squad, giving the team a blend of experience and opportunity.

Skipper Minnu Mani, who has represented India in three ODIs, brings with her the confidence of a strong showing in the Australia A series where she picked up five wickets across three matches.

Shafali Verma, despite her 29 ODI appearances for India and an explosive batting reputation, finds herself outside the main World Cup squad. Her modest returns against Australia A in One Days (36, 4, and 52) highlighted her struggle for consistency, but her presence in the warm-up squad keeps her in the mix.

Tejal Hasabnis, who debuted for India in October 2024, has scored 140 runs in six ODIs at an impressive average of 46.66. Although she endured a lean patch in Australia, she remains among the official stand-bys.

All-rounder Tanuja Kanwar had a standout performance on the Australia tour, rescuing India A in the second one-dayer with a gritty 50 and a wicket (1/40), which played a pivotal role in securing the series win.

Pace talent Titas Sadhu, already capped in eight ODIs, added three more wickets to her tally in the Australia series and will look to strengthen her claim as a dependable option.

Sayali Satghare and Priya Mishra, both part of the World Cup stand-bys, will use the warm-ups to press for recognition. Satghare has three ODI wickets from as many matches, while Mishra, with nine ODIs and 15 wickets, offers proven wicket-taking ability.

Saima Thakor, with 10 ODIs and seven international wickets, and Prema Rawat, who impressed in the second One Day in Australia with a crucial 32* and 1/40 in a rescue act alongside Kanwar, add further balance to the squad.

India A’s warm-up duties are not only vital preparation for the senior squad but also an audition for players on the fringe. Before the marquee tournament, India will host Australia in a three-match ODI series beginning on September 14, followed by warm-up games against England (September 25) and New Zealand (September 27).
