Kathryn Bryce, captain of the Scotland Women’s Cricket Team, has been honored as the ICC Women’s Player of the Month for April 2025. This recognition comes on the heels of her outstanding performance during the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup Qualifier 2025 held in Pakistan.

The all-rounder led Scotland at the Women’s Cricket World Cup Qualifier in Pakistan and managed to defeat favorites West Indies and also Thailand, punching above their weight and delivering the most unexpected upsets.
Expressing her gratitude, Bryce said, “It’s a real honor to win this award. Knowing that it’s being voted for by the global cricket community makes it that extra bit special; even just to be nominated alongside two players of the stature of Fatima Sana and Hayley Matthews, who both had fantastic tournaments themselves, was amazing.”
Bryce emerged as the tournament’s top run-scorer, amassing 293 runs across five matches with an impressive average of 73.25. Her best performance came during Scotland’s final encounter against Ireland, where she scored a century of 131* off 137 deliveries, registering the highest individual score of the tournament. In the same tournament, the all-rounder also took three crucial wickets, nearly securing a win for her side.
Kathryn Bryce expressed that the World Cup Qualifier was a fantastic competition for the Scotland team. “The way that we played our cricket and developed and grew in a format that we’ve not played a huge amount of together was great to see, and it was terrific to have a lot of different players standing up and taking charge of the game at various moments.
“Across the board during the entire tournament in Pakistan, the standard of cricket was brilliant, and all the games were really close. It was a wonderful tournament to be a part of and hopefully, we’ll have more opportunities to build on the momentum we created there,” the skipper added.
Bryce excelled in both batting and bowling, proving to be an asset who delivered at crucial moments for her team. Though Scotland were unable to clinch a World Cup ticket, the Bryce-led side registered a memorable 11-run win against West Indies to kickstart their campaign. Bryce also set a record for captaining the most Women’s ODIs for Scotland, surpassing Kari Anderson.
Bryce’s recognition as the ICC Women’s Player of the Month underscores her significant contributions. Under her captaincy, the team finished fourth in the standings with four points from their five outings.
