Young Phoebe Litchfield shared her thoughts about going home and spending time with her family. She had started the season strong, when Australia hosted New Zealand for a three-match T20I series, as her 43-ball 64* helped Australia complete a tense chase. Australia went on to sweep the series 3-0 with Georgia Wareham and Ashleigh Gardener having strong series with the bat and ball.

“I can’t say uni (university) so let’s go, some time at home with the fam (family) out at Orange,” said Phoebe Litchfield about her plans for the off-season.

After beating New Zealand at home, the Aussie girls went into the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 high on confidence as the defending champions, but were unable to defend their title, going down to South Africa in the semi-finals. It was a strong tournament for Annabel Sutherland though, who finished as Australia’s highest wicket-taker with 9 wickets from 5 games.

“Being at home, just to be at home in my own bed and to see family and friends,” said Annabel Sutherland, while Georgia Wareham also shared similar sentiments of looking forward to spending time at home with their families.

After a bittersweet T20 World Cup campaign, the Australians faced India at home, and it was Tahlia McGrath stepping in as captain in the absence of Alyssa Healy in the three-match ODI series. McGrath led from the front as debutant Georgia Voll also impressed along with Annabel Sutherland’s all-round show which helped the Australians sweep India 3-0. The 2024/25 season was an important one for the all-rounder, who has showcased that she belongs in the leadership group.

“Everyone in this team pays me out because I absolutely love doing washing, so I’m keen as for that,” laughed Tahlia McGrath.

For the 21-year-old Voll, it’s been a dream start. She made her debut in the home series against India and finished the series with 173 runs from three matches at an incredible average of 86.50, including a brilliant 101, which she scored in the second ODI, opening the innings with Litchfield, putting up a 130-run stand. Voll made her T20I debut in the Ashes 2024/25 series as well, opening the innings with the experienced Beth Mooney. Australia went on to hammer England 16-0 across all formats in the Ashes, with Voll being a part of her maiden Ashes triumph as well.

The Aussies wrapped up a strong season with another clean sweep, against New Zealand away from home in a three-match T20I series and Voll ended the series as the second highest run getter, with 161 runs at 53.66 average at a strike rate of 149.07.

Voll’s breakout season also helped her get a Women’s Premier League (WPL) gig, with her right-hand top order batter representing the UP Warriorz in her debut WPL season. Voll played three games for the UP Warriorz, finishing with 154 runs from her three games which included a sublime 99* against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB).

“Bit of surfing, getting a new ute (Utility vehicle) from Toowoomba Toyota, that’ll be great. Take it to the beach, a bit of time in the sun up in Brisbane. Haven’t been there a lot in the last couple of months but yeah would be good to get home,” shared Georgia Voll.

Amongst those who had a stand-out season, Australia’s leggie, Alana King also shone brightly, when it mattered most for the team, in the Ashes. King. A maiden five-wicket haul in the third ODI and a maiden Test match five-wicket haul saw King end the Ashes with the leading wicket taker in the Test and ODI formats.

“I’ve got two weddings in a week so I’m so excited for that,” said Alana King.
