Beginning with a bitter-sweet showing at the 2024 Women’s T20 World Cup, where they played five games and won four, Australia women’s cricket team then had a dominant 2024–25 season across all formats, remaining unbeaten and winning 22 out of their 23 games.

New Zealand tour of Australia (T20Is) – Australia won 3-0
White Ferns were on Australian shores in September 2024 for a three-match T20I series with Alyssa Healy’s girls getting their 2024-25 season underway in style. Phoebe Litchfield guided Australia to a 5-wicket win in the first T20I before Ashleigh Gardner’s tight bowling helped Australia hold on for a 29-run win and lock in the series. The third and final game saw a confident batting performance help Australia chase down 147 with ease to complete a 3-0 drubbing.
Bitter-Sweet ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 Campaign
Defending champions and six-time T20 World Cup winners, Australia came into the ninth edition of the Women’s T20 World Cup high on confidence and it showed as they went flawless in the group stages, picking up four wins from as many games.
It was a rematch of the 2023 T20 World Cup final in the semi-final as Australia faced South Africa but it was the Proteas who came out on top this time in a low-scoring encounter to see Australia exit in the semi-finals.
India’s tour of Australia (ODI) – Australia won 3-0
Australia, led by Tahlia McGrath hosted India for a three-match ODI series in late 2024 which they comprehensively won 3-0. Megan Schutt’s five-wicket haul in the opening ODI saw Australia bowl out India for 100 to sail to a 5-wicket win before an Ellyse Perry century saw Australia lock in a massive 122-run win to seal the series 2-0. The third and final ODI saw Annabel Sutherland score a century to help Australia white-wash the series 3-0, picking up another big 83-run win.
Australia’s tour of New Zealand (ODI) – Australia won 2-0
The Australian women, after beating India at home, travelled to New Zealand for a white-ball series for a 3-match ODI series in December 2024. After the first ODI was washed out, Annabel Sutherland’s 105* set up Australia for a 65-run win in another rain affected game. The third and deciding ODI saw all-round show from Annabel Sutherland and Ashleigh Gardner help Australia to a 75-run win to win the series 2-0.
Women’s Ashes – Australia won 16-0
Australia hosted England in January 2025 for the Women’s Ashes, starting with a 3-0 victory in the three-match ODI series. They chased down 204 with four wickets remaining in the opening game at North Sydney Oval. They then won by 21 runs in Melbourne and by 86 runs in Hobart, where they scored a massive 308/8. Alana King was outstanding with the ball, taking 11 wickets at 9.63, while Annabel Sutherland maintained her outstanding form, collecting 163 runs at an average of 163.00.
Australia once more accomplished a 3-0 whitewash in the T20I series after the Ashes. They defended a score of 198/7 and won the opening Twenty20 International in Sydney by 57 runs. Australia won the second game in Canberra by six runs (DLS method) in a closely contested game. With a 72-run victory in Adelaide to end the series, they held England to just 90 all out. With nine wickets at an average of 10.88, Alana King was the highest wicket-taker, while Annabel Sutherland topped the batting stats once more.
After winning the white-ball leg of the Ashes in flawless manner, Australia headed into the Only Test of the Ashes, which was held at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground in Melbourne. Australia put England to bat first and Alana King spun a web around the English batters, as England were bundled out for 170. Twin centuries from Annabel Sutherland and Beth Mooney saw Australia rack up a mammoth 440 in their first innings before King and Ashleigh Gardner took nine-wickets between them to bowl out England for 148 to pick up a massive innings & 122 runs win to seal the 16-0 Ashes dominance.
Australia’s tour of New Zealand (T20I) – Australia won 3-0
After winning the ODI series in December 2024, Australia returned to New Zealand in March 2025 for a 3-match T20I series. The T20I series kicked off with a Beth Mooney chase special to see Australia ease to an 8-wicket win before Mooney’s 70 helped Australia put up a massive 204/3 to see them seal the series with an 82-run win. Australia signed off the T20I series with a thrilling 8-run win with them closing out the white-ball series in fashion with a 3-0 series win.
