Government approves Bangladesh Women’s tour of Pakistan

On Monday, 21st October, Nizamuddin Chowdhury, Bangladesh Cricket Board’s chief executive confirmed that their National and U16 Women’s Teams will tour Pakistan, now that the Government has given their approval.

This tour commences on Wednesday and is spread across three T20Is and two ODIs. The board even announced a 15 member squad for the same according to which, the T20 team will be led by Salma Khatun and the ODI team by Rumana Ahmed. All the matches are to be played at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, and the tour will wind up on the 4th of November, with the second and final ODI game.

The security concerns still exist and there’s no clarity on the men’s tour of Pakistan, yet, which is supposed to happen in February 2020, speaking about which to Cricbuzz, Chowdhury said,

“The security threat varies at different levels. As now, we have decided to send the women and age-level team. We can make a decision about our national team’s visit to Pakistan once we get the full report from the security agencies.”

A final decision will be taken on the men’s tour later. As of now, the government gave a nod to go ahead with the Women’s tours as the security concerns seem to be minimal.
