With women’s cricket getting bigger and better across the globe, the NCF is committed to become a formidable competitor by expanding National Women’s League and providing enhanced international opportunities.

The expansion of the South-South Female League is poised to greatly enhance participation, enabling a greater number of women to engage in the sport at a competitive level.

An increase in matches will provide more opportunities for emerging talents, establishing a robust foundation for the future of women’s cricket in the country. Furthermore, a national competition will elevate the overall standard of domestic matches, promoting a more competitive environment and better prepared players for advanced levels of the game.

Collaboration with various teams is a great step to elevate the game and fight in an intense-competitive environment. The Female Invitational Tournament will be a pivotal tournament on Nigeria’s cricket calendar and will establish a stage featuring teams like Uganda, Tanzania, and Rwanda.

“Then in March, in Abuja, we have the Female Invitational, where countries last year, Tanzania and Rwanda came. Tanzania won that, but this year we’re expecting Uganda, Tanzania, and there’s a lot of excitement created by these girls, that some of the non-African countries are actually looking forward to joining us,” said the President.

These tournaments are more than just a clash between the bat and ball; they serve as a medium for cultural interaction, bolstering bonds between cricket-playing nations. Hosting international teams boosts Nigeria’s standing in women’s cricket, establishing the country as a notable venue for competitive games. This visibility is essential as Nigeria prepares for global championships and cements its presence in the international arena.

Additionally, the Nigeria Cricket Federation is initiating steps to establish strong relationships with several nations like India and the United Kingdom. A highly advanced setup in a country is likely to bring new-found expertise and learnings to a nation that is on its way to progress. Players and coaches will have access to top-notch information through coaching clinics, training camps, and exchange programs, which will boost their abilities and tactical comprehension of the game.

Another important area of focus is infrastructure development. Players will have better training environments and will get prepared to compete at higher levels. These collaborations will also support year-round playing opportunities, which will keep athletes engrossed and will ignite them to process steadily and progressively.
