India and Pakistan have one of the fiercest rivalries whenever they are up against each other in any sport or at any level. The anticipation and the build-up to this clash get elevated on a different level. However, over the past few years, it has died down a fair bit, especially when it comes to cricket courtesy of India’s clear dominance over their arch-rivals, be it the women’s game or the men’s game.
The Women in Blue have a staggering 81%-win record against Pakistan in the T20I format. The scoreline between these two sides is 6-2 in favor of India in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup over the years, since its inception in the year 2009. The dominance is even more flawless as they are unbeaten when it comes to the ODI format as far as the women’s game is concerned.
The picture is no different in the men’s game, as the Men in Blue have a sensational win record of around 78% in the ODI format, especially in the last 10 years. When it comes to the T20I format, India has maintained an impressive record of 71% against their arch-rivals in the last 10 years (December 2014—December 2024) in the format.
Despite all of that, it is still one of the most discussed topics around the cricket fraternity on the eve of a potentially high-octane encounter between these two sides. Apart from their clashes on the field, there’s one more thing that pops up frequently, especially in recent times, which is the venue of the iconic clash. The International Cricket Council (ICC) has finally put all the concerns and speculations regarding the venue of an “India Vs Pakistan” encounter to bed with a concrete decision on the venue.
The matches between both these sides at the ICC events for both men and women, hosted by India or Pakistan during the current cycle from 2024 to 2027 will be played at a neutral venue proposed by the host of the tournament.
This will apply to the following tournaments, ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025, which is currently scheduled to be hosted by Pakistan, the upcoming ICC Women’s ODI World Cup in 2025, which is set to be hosted by India, followed by the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, which will be co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka, and then the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2028, for which the hosting rights are freshly awarded to Pakistan.
