South Africa’s Sinalo Jafta of South Africa bags central contract
Sinalo Jafta has bagged Cricket South Africa central contract for the 2019-20 season. Jafta, the 24-year old wicketkeeper, made her international debut back in October 2016. Since then, she has represented South Africa in only 8 ODIs and 6 T20Is.
Earlier, Jafta was selected in the final T20I against India and this has helped her bag the national contract. She thus becomes the 15th player to be centrally contracted this season. The contract, which will stay valid till the month of April 2020 includes the likes of Mignon du Preez, Suné Luus, Dane Van Niekerk and Marizanne Kapp.
As reported by Cricbuzz, CSA Acting Director of Cricket, Corrie van Zyl attributed Sinalo’s consistent performance for her contract upgradation. He believes that this will encourage the provincial players to perform better in cricket. He also said that they have introduced this change to assist in the retention of talent and the objective of creating parity within women’s cricket. This is an important step forward as we strive for gender equality as far as cricket is concerned, he added.
