A clinical show from the India B bowlers restricts South Africa to 96/8

The South African skipper Kayla Reyneke won the toss and opted to bat first. The visitors got off to the worst possible start, losing more than half their side inside the first 12 overs of the innings. Seshnie Naidu joined wicket-keeper batter Karabo Meso at the crease and the duo instilled some hope of posting a competitive total on the board for South Africa with a much-needed 37-run 7th wicket partnership. They took the team closer to the 100-run mark, however, they couldn’t reach the three-figure mark as they were restricted to 96/8 in their quota of overs.

Keeper batter Karabo Meso (40 off 49 balls) contributed a significant chunk (around 42%) of the team’s total and was also the stand-out performer with the bat for South Africa. Parunika Sisodia (4-0-13-1), Mithila Vinod (4-0-19-1), and Anandita Kishore (3-0-15-2) were the star performers with the ball for India B.

A spirited fightback from the South African bowlers saw the home side collapse, losing their next six wickets for just 38 runs. However, Anaadi Tagde managed to keep her calm to guide India B over the line with 2 wickets in hand and three balls to spare. Wicket-keeper batter G Kamalini (37 off 40 balls) was a significant contributor with around 38% of the team’s runs in the chase. She was also the top performer with the bat for her side.

Ashleigh Van Wyk (4-0-19-3), skipper Kayla Reyneke (4-0-19-2), and Monalisa Legodi (4-0-12-0) were some of the positives with the ball for South Africa. On a rare occasion, a player from the losing side, wicket-keeper batter Karabo Meso (40 off 49 balls) was awarded the Player of the Match.
