The purpose of establishing the Hall of Fame is to honor the achievements of cricket legends and celebrate the contributions they made to the sport.

“We’re very grateful for the goodwill and collaboration shared between the three parties to make this possible. We’re all working very hard to ensure the history and memories of our greatest players are immortalised, so young players growing up today and tomorrow better understand their identity and where they’ve come from,” New Zealand Cricket chief executive Scott Weenink said about being grateful for the collaboration and their aim to etch the memories of the greatest players.

A list of 11 former international players coined as the “First Eleven” will be inducted into the Hall of Fame. Additionally, each member inducted into the Hall of Fame will feature huge photographs along with a video and biographical content displayed on a digital touchscreen on 5th December 2024 in front of the inductees and the families in their absence.

There were a couple of conditions to fulfill the criteria for induction into the Hall of Fame. One of them is that they must have represented New Zealand and the second is that the player must be retired from international cricket for at least five years. The players to be inducted into the Hall of Fame are chosen by a panel of historians, statisticians, international records, leadership, and influence.
