Nandini Kashyap and Raghvi Bist guide India E to 2024 Challenger Trophy Win

The Harleen Deol-led side defeated Team D by 14 runs to book their spot in the final of the 2024 Senior Women’s T20 Challenger Trophy. On the other hand, Team E defeated the Sneh Rana-led side by 7 wickets in their last league game of the competition to progress into the final.

The regular skipper of Team E Radha Yadav missed the title clash of the Senior Women’s T20 Challenger Trophy, against Team A led by skipper Harleen Deol. Sajeevan Sajana stepped up as the stand-in skipper for the side in the final.

Fifties from Raghvi Bist and Nandini Kashyap powers Team E to 171/7

Both openers Raghvi Bist (71 off 51) and Nandini Kashyap (56 off 40) continued their rich vein of form with the bat in the tournament by forming a massive 92-run opening stand after the opposition skipper Harleen Deol won the toss and inserted Team E to bat first. The opening partnership contributed to around 54% of the team’s total as Team E eventually posted a total of 171/7 in their quota of 20 overs.

Saika Ishaque (4-0-22-3), Hani Patel (4-0-28-0), and Fatima Jaffer (3-0-21-1) were the key performers with the ball for Team A.

Chasing a massive target of 172, Team A lost the wicket of Priya Punia early in the run chase. However, skipper Harleen Deol in company with Trisha Poojitha formed a crucial 62-run 2nd wicket partnership to steady the innings in a stiff run chase. Vasavi Akhila Pavani picked up the wicket of Trisha Poojitha (25) to provide the much-needed 2nd breakthrough for Team E.

Another crucial 44-run 4th wicket partnership between Mita Paul and wicket-keeper batter Richa Ghosh kept the hopes alive in the run chase. They were eventually restricted to 145/8 in their quota of overs, falling 26 runs short of the target. Skipper Harleen Deol (43 off 34 balls) and wicket-keeper batter Richa Ghosh (32 off 17 balls) were the top run scorers for Team A in the hunt.

Archana Devi (3-0-11-2), P Naik (4-0-28-2), and Sayali Satghare (4-0-29-2) were the top performers with the ball for Team E.

Raghvi Bist was awarded the Player of the Match for her brilliant match-winning innings of 71 off 51 balls and wicket-keeper batter Nandini Kashyap was awarded the Player of the Tournament for her exceptional show with the bat as she ended up as the leading run-scorer of the tournament with 332 runs at an impressive strike rate of 137.19 and a mind-boggling average of 83 in five innings.
