435 – India records their highest ever total in Women’s ODIs

Before this series, the last time India faced Ireland in a Women’s One Day International (ODI) match was in 2017. It was a record-breaking game for India, as Deepti Sharma recorded the highest individual score for the team, and India set their highest-ever team total (358/2). Fast-forward to 2025, in Ireland’s first-ever bilateral series in India, and once again, India turned it into a record-breaking spectacle.

Only recently, in the 3rd and final ODI of the series against West Indies in Vadodara, India equalled their previous highest team total, scoring an impressive 358/5. This remarkable achievement was powered by fifties from Smriti Mandhana (53), Pratika Rawal (76), Jemimah Rodrigues (52), and Harleen Deol’s maiden century.

In their consecutive outing batting first, during the 2nd ODI against Ireland at Rajkot, India set a new benchmark with a total of 370/5. Fifties from the top three—Smriti Mandhana (73), Pratika Rawal (67), and Harleen Deol (89)—followed by Jemimah Rodrigues’ maiden century (102), powered the team to their highest-ever team total.

In the 3rd and final ODI of their series against Ireland, India’s openers once again laid a solid foundation, which the middle order capitalized on. As a result, India set a new record, rewriting their highest-ever team total to 435, the fourth highest in Women’s ODI cricket. They also became only the third women’s team, after New Zealand and Australia, to surpass the 400-run mark in the format.

Highest Women’s ODI team total:

New Zealand – 491/4 (50.0) v Ireland, 2018

New Zealand – 455/5 (50.0) v Pakistan, 1997

New Zealand – 440/3 (50.0) v Ireland, 2018

Smriti Mandhana and Pratika Rawal shared their first 200+ run partnership and their fourth century stand in just six innings together. The duo stitched a remarkable 233-run opening-wicket partnership, with Mandhana taking the lead as the aggressor. She smashed the fastest century by an Indian in Women’s ODI history, reaching the milestone in just 70 balls, on her way to a sublime 135 off 80 deliveries, studded by 12 fours and seven maximums.

Rawal continued her role as the anchor, while Richa Ghosh played a powerful knock of 59 off 42 balls, comprising 10 boundaries and one six. Rawal accelerated in the later stages of her innings before departing for 154 off 129 balls, marking the third-highest individual score by an Indian in Women’s ODIs, and the highest on home soil. Notably, she is the only Indian opener other than Smriti Mandhana to score a century in ODIs since 2018.

Cameos from Tejal Hasabnis (28 off 25), Harleen Deol (15 off 10), and Deepti Sharma (11* off 8) propelled India to a mammoth total of 435/5, setting a new record for their highest-ever total in ODIs. Notably, this is now India’s highest team total in the format, across both men’s and women’s cricket, surpassing the men’s record of 418 against West Indies back in 2011.
