Indian pacers, led by Indian skipper Jasprit Bumrah led the visitors in an inspiring fightback after being bowled out for 150 in the first innings with the Australian side 83 runs away from taking the lead, but lost seven wickets with 67 on the board. Following this, many female cricketers reacted on social media on this epic day one of the First Test of the 2024-25 Border Gavaskar trophy.

Indian Skipper Jasprit Bumrah had elected to bat first but the Indian side failed to take the toss advantage as they were bundled for a score of 150. India found themselves in a precarious position after having lost half their side with only 59 on the board. Following Rishabh Pant’s 37, debutante Nitish Reddy’s 41 lead India to post 150 on the board for the visitors. For the hosts, it was Josh Hazelwood with four wickets who was well supported by Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins & Mitchell Marsh claiming two wickets each.

The action-packed day saw the Indian team bounce back with a fantastic bowling display. The hosts were forced on the backfoot early as India bagged seven wickets with Australia managing only 67 runs.

Former India pacer Jhulan Goswami took to social media to express her thoughts on the eventful day one of the Perth Test. She emphasized that the day was full of setbacks & comebacks for the Indian team. She highlighted that the Indian team didn’t have an ideal start to the first Test, being bowled out for 150, but bounced back brilliantly after scalping seven wickets in the 27 overs and conceding only 67 runs with the hosts trailing by 83 runs. She also mentioned Jasprit Bumrah leading the pack for India who dismantled the top order of Australia, in his 4/17.

Former New Zealand wicketkeeper, Katey Martin also expressed her admiration towards Test cricket and highlighted the exceptional bowling performances by both sides in a day that saw 17 wickets fall, while Australian spinner Amanda-Jade Wellington summed up the opening day action with a fitting emoji.
