The India squad has already been announced for the upcoming series of five T20Is and 3 ODIs against South Africa beginning from September 24 and October 9 respectively. Both the T20Is and ODIs will take place in Gujarat, the former in Surat and the latter in Vadodara.
The T20Is just like the IPL will be played under the lights, and Taniya Bhatia, the only wicketkeeper batsmen in both T20I and ODI squad is of the opinion that it will be easier for them to play during that time of the day in that situation as they have gained a little experience of doing the same in the Women’s IPL.
“We had a few IPL games under lights, so I have a fair idea. It is an exciting time to be playing women’s cricket in India, the fans have started recognizing the cricketers,” Taniya told Times of India.
The 21-year-old was quoted saying, “Yes as it’s been a couple of months since we played international cricket, the excitement level is high. Higher also because we’ll get to play under lights this time.”
When asked her take on the inclusion of the young protégé, Shafali Sharma in the squad, she said, “It’s great to see her in the squad. She is an amazing talent. I’m sure the fans had glimpses of her during the women’s IPL in Jaipur. She is a great prospect for the future of Indian women’s cricket.”
